Extraction as Amputation

Removing teeth is seen as normal, but we seem to be gradually waking up to the idea that each of our adult teeth is actually an important part of our body, and that removing one should be seen as closer to the idea of an amputation in terms of the weight of the decision.

To give one example, Neal Hallinan’s Releasing the Psoas video explains that the teeth are linked to the vestibular system. The claim is that the brain uses signals from the teeth to determine that we are well balanced and that it’s therefore OK to relax the psoas (hip flexors).

I can attest to this from long personal experience with feeling weirdly unable to relax my legs and noticing a connection to jaw alignment before I’d heard any of this.
