Misophonia/tooth rage
Exploring the connections between misophonia, jaw dysfunction, chronic tension, and fascia.
Ever since I read the orofacial hypermirroring paper I’ve been struck by the large degree of overlap between my misophonia triggers—from both myself and others—and objective jaw- and airway dysfunction.
Tongue Tie
I’m particularly interested in tongue tie at the moment, because of the profound tension release effects patients describe when they have a tongue tie release (TTR). See Functional Approach to Frenuloplasty for example (warning: contains footage of TTR surgery).
Current theory
I’m currently working on a model of misophonia that can account for all of the observations we have and explain the root cause of the condition. I’m in favour of a paradigm in which objective physical dysfunction, such as tongue tie and related chronic tension, is the main driver of the disease.
I am optimistic that achieving physical health—in a holistic sense that includes the full resolution (not just symptom management) of chronic postural and tension-related issues—will be the cure to misophonia.
