Hand/Mouth Neurons
I’ve been having misokinesia in my hands recently. The way they grip and manipulate things, or just their resting position, has become a trigger. It feels like there’s something structurally wrong with them.
I vaguely remembered something about the same brain wiring being used for grasping and manipulating things with both the hands and the mouth, and on googling it it turns out that our friend mirror neurons are involved as well: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0149763418309114.
I wonder if part of the issue is that after amputations of premolars, the mouth no longer works in the optimal way, or in the expected way, as a grasping tool. It’s mangled/crippled in some way, and this is perceived by the brain and somehow transferred to the hands via whatever neural linkage there is.
